Working in partnership with parents is central to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Consulting parents about children’s early experiences helps practitioners plan their learning in the most effective way.

All contributions from parents are encouraged and welcomed. Helping out during sessions, sharing interests or information about home life and taking part in discussions about our childcare service provide the opportunity for parents to find out about their children’s learning in the setting and for us to hear about their learning at home. Our learning journals help to support partnerships with home.

Parents are regarded as members of our setting who have full participatory rights.

These include a right to be:

  • Valued and respected
  • Kept informed
  • Consulted
  • Involved
  • Included
